The VisualDesignLab at Northern Arizona University gives local clients (typically non-profits) the opportunity to request a range of imagery, designed by NAU’s own student graphic designers.

NAU hosts a Film Series each semester, each with a different overarching theme encapsulating the selected films. In Spring of 2025, the theme was an extension of a previous theme, “MORE B MOVIES! CULT MOVIES!! MIDNIGHT MOVIES!!!”. So, during the previous semester, the VDL was approached to design a poster promoting the event and the films that would be shown. I leaned into the campy retro sci-fi aesthetics of old B movies, keeping a limited primary triad color palette and borrowing typographic choices from some of these classics.
